Sorbet is similar to ice cream, but unlike ice cream, it doesn’t contain milk products.  It is often used as an alternative to ice cream for those on a diet because it doesn’t contain any fat, making many good recipie choices for people who are lactose intolerant or vegan 🙂

It’s basically just frozen water or juice sweetened with fruit, chocolate and sometime alcohol like liqueur or wine.

I m gonna give you here the recipie of the pineapple sorbet recipe (my favorite!),  taken from ” Cooking Light”.

 1/2 cup per serving

calories per serving: 115

fat per serving: 0.2 grams

Ingredients:

  • 1 small pineapple, peeled and cored
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • Mint sprigs (optional)

Preparation:

  1. Cut pineapple into pieces. Place pineapple pieces and lemon juice in a food processor and process until smooth. Add sugar then process  for 1 more minute or until sugar dissolves.
  2. Pour mixture into a freezer safe container. Cover and freeze for 1 hour or until firm. Spoon into a small bowl and garnish with mint sprigs, if desired.
you can also make the sorbet using sweeteners and have 50 % less sugar! It still tastes great!
